What is needed for a photo shot?
Yourself and whoever will be in the photos. If you want your kids in new clothing for a theme please let them where the outfit a couple of times before coming to the shoot. A lot of times with kids they are uncomfortable in new things. If you have question on bring a certain thing then just ask.

How soon can I receive my photos?
Wedding and graduation photos, I will have proofs ready in 3-5 business days and then you will have one week to decide what you want to order out of them and then I will have them back to you in 5-10
business days. As for all other photos I will have them ready in 5-10 business days.

If I have an overly active child and have not been able to get good
portraits made, would you suggest to wait till my child is older and maybe more manageable?
What is your idea of "more manageable?" posing? Sitting still? Folding his/her hands, crossing his/her ankles, and tipping his/her head? We love energetic children and encourage them to play and be silly. Our equipment can take photos at 1/250th of a second which allows us to freeze the moment and capture it on film. There is no need to wait to capture your children as children.
